The good thing now you can transfer at Segamat instead of Gemas. The connecting time is long, though. But unlike Gemas, Segamat has hotels near the train station and a new Segamat Central Shopping Mall.

JB Sentral to Segamat takes about 4 hours. Need to stay overnight @ Segamat.

Next day take the new ETS from Segamat to KL Sentral.

KL Sentral to Padang Besar/Padang Besar to Hatyai

Hat Yai Junction to Padang Besar/Padang Besar to KL Sentral

KL Sentral to Segamat/Segamat to JB Sentral. No need to stay overnight @ Segamat.
