One example is standing on the left side on escalators. I'm aware that in HK, China and Taiwan, people are accustomed to standing on the right. But people should know that the etiquette in SG is to stand on the left and allow people to walk on the right.

I'm always bemused when I stand on the left and someone stands one step up on the right. And people wanting to walk always expects me to move instead of the person on the right. And when I want to walk, the person standing on the right doesn't move.

Something to be implemented should be that you stand 2 steps up or down from a stranger on an escalator. :)

Another etiquette should be not to put your feet up in public places, like putting your feet up on public transport or on the seat in front of you in cinemas or foodcourts.

In China, believe me, you don't wanna stand in the way of someone, either left OR right OR centre.

Are you turning into a girl??

What SMRT or shopping centres can do is to put a sign (please stand on the left) along the escalator just like the one in London. Telling Sinkies is waste of time. Show them the sign.

I second that. But my nigerian friend tells me that if you are honest in Nigeria, you are very poor.

not really. i believe in that "if u take care of your customers, yr customers will take care of u". this happens in nigeria as well. i have clients who became friends doing very well, doing honest business.;)

hunny, that applies everywhere

haha... true that people will always try to take advantage of honest folks.

SMRT does have a sign.
Most shopping malls do as well.
Some people just choose to ignore the signs, or perhaps they can't read.
