Based on the stats from DOS, currently, we have about 14.3% PR among our Singapore Residents (ie, SG+PR).

Govt have announced before that 80% of the places in our local univs would be allocated to local "residents" and 20% to foreign students (ie, non-PR).

Now if you consider that on average, only 14.3% of local residents are PRs with 85.7% Singaporeans, then of the 80% of the places reserved for local residents, only 68.6% of the places are truely for Singaporeans.

Hence, the real % of Singaporeans studying in our local universities is less than 70%, much less than the 80% announced by Govt.

30%+ are PRs and FTs....

And PRs & FTs get generous Govt grants to study in our local univ...

Who voted for our Govt - SGs or PRs/FTs?

Bro, in the US, most public funded univs have at most 10% of the places reserved for foreign students. 90% are reserved for their own people. As a public funded univs, their first duty is to the people.

Yes, if NUS/NTU/SMU were privately funded, I don't give a damn. Just like Harvard which is privately funded, they have something like 30% FT students in there.

Get it?

....

In US, Canada,..., foreign students have to pay a differential fee i.e. much higher fees than what a local pays.

Where else but in Spore are they getting free or pay less than what a Spore citizens pays:rolleyes:

yeah we are know why PAP giving out PR like free gifts. Because they set out rules like sinkies how many percent and foreigner how many percent. they dun want to follow their rule, so by saying sinkies and PR same, they can basically add as much FT as they like.
FT have their uses. but none are good for sinkies.
