English teacher charged with distributing obscene pix to teen
KUALA LUMPUR: A teacher pleaded not guilty at the Selayang Magistrate's Court here Thursday to a charge of distributing an obscene picture to a teenager, two years ago.
C. Shanmuga, 32, who teaches English, was charged with distributing an obscene picture to an 18-year-old girl at Jalan GU 3/10, Taman Garing Utama, Rawang here between April 21 and 27, 2010.
He was charged under Section 293 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum five-year jail or fine or both, upon conviction.
Magistrate Mohd Isa Nor granted him bail of RM4,000 with one surety and fixed May 2 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor S. Arunjothy prosecuted while Shanmuga was represent by counsel JRV. Ramjahen and S. Satheesan.
