The one place that can proudly say they are currently ruled by the very same monarchs that welcomed the King of Kings to their country is none other than Thailand a/k/a "The Land of Smiles". King Bhumibol Adulyade and Queen Sirikit are the only King and Queen alive today who hosted the LION OF JUDAH during His visit to Thailand on May 1, 1968. The Chronicle of Thailand records the visit as follows:
"Ethiopia's Emperor Haile Selassie arrived for a three-day state visit and was welcomed by King Bhumibol. Speaking Amharic, Ethiopia's official language, he said of Bangkok, 'It is our sincere concern that this city will grow even more, without losing its characteristics.' The King said their meeting 'marks the first time that a reigning monarch from Africa has made a state visit to Thailand' and praised the Emperor's 'wise and benevolent leadership'."
One can say without reservation that King Bhumibol took heed to the wisdom and leadership of the King of Kings. The City of Bangkok has grown immensely since 1968, and anyone who has visited will clearly see it has not lost any of its character. You will find a harmonious blend of the past and the present in Bangkok, and the people of Thailand have every reason to be proud of their King and Queen.
