One of the two officers was injured in the pursuit.
The officers were patrolling along the Seletar Expressway when they spotted a car which was travelling past the speed limit. They signalled the driver to stop, but he continued speeding and tried to evade arrest.
The driver drove dangerously, weaving in and out of lanes. He also drove against the flow of traffic at one point.
One of the officers was hurt when the driver suddenly swerved his vehicle along Woodlands Ave 2, causing the officer's motorcycle to crash into the road's railings.
The officer sustained back injuries and has received outpatient treatment at the National University Hospital.
The chase ended when the driver stopped his vehicle along Woodlands Avenue 1.
He has been arrested for driving dangerously and without a valid driving licence. Police investigations are on-going.
Under Section 64 of the Road Traffic Act, any motorist who drives a vehicle dangerously on the roads and are first time offenders can be fined up to S$3,000 or imprisonment up to 12 months, or both.
Driving without a valid licence is also an offence under Section 35 of the Road Traffic Act. If convicted, first time offenders are liable to a fine not exceeding S$1,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months.
