Eight youths arrested for rioting over staring incident

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested eight young men aged between 15 and 20 years old, who are believed to be involved in a case of rioting.
In a statement, police said they were informed about a fight along Pasir Ris Street 21 at 8.54pm on Thursday.
Arriving at the scene, officers found two youths injured, but conscious. The pair were then sent to Changi General Hospital.
Following ground enquiries and other investigations, police identified the alleged assailants. All eight suspects were subsequently arrested for the offence of rioting.
Police said preliminary investigation shows the rioting took place over a staring incident between two groups of individuals.
Investigation into the case is still ongoing.
Individuals found guilty of rioting face a jail term of up to seven years, and caning.
