GE: Applications for post-election vehicle processions open on Nomination Day


SINGAPORE : The police have said that General Election candidates may begin applying for permits to conduct post-election vehicle processions from April 27 (Nomination Day) till May 14.

These post-election vehicle processions to thank voters and constituents can only be held after Polling Day, from May 8 to May 14 2011 (both dates inclusive) between 7am and 10pm.

Some of the conditions of the permit include restrictions on music, singing, banners and placards, unless authorised by the police officer granting the permit.

Vehicles should also be kept moving and not deviate from the route specified during such processions. They are also not allowed to exceed the number specified in the permit.

Persons granted permits must not be absent from the procession unless they have a reasonable excuse.

The permits can be applied for at the various Police Divisional Headquarters' Compliance Management Offices. The permits are issued under the provisions of the Public Order Act 2009.

The respective Police Divisional Headquarters and electoral divisions are as follows:

- Central Police Divisional Headquarters for Tanjong Pagar GRC

- Clementi Police Divisional Headquarters for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, Radin Mas GRC, West Coast GRC and Yuhua SMC

- Tanglin Police Divisional Headquarters for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, Moulmein-Kallang GRC, Potong Pasir SMC and Whampoa SMC

- Ang Mo Kio Police Divisional Headquarters for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Hougang SMC, Nee Soon GRC, Punggol East SMC, Sembawang GRC and Sengkang West SMC

- Bedok Police Divisional Headquarters for Aljunied GRC, East Coast GRC, Joo Chiat SMC, Marine Parade GRC, Mountbatten SMC, Pasir Ris- Punggol GRC and Tampines GRC

- Jurong Police Divisional Headquarters for Chua Chu Kang GRC, Bukit Panjang SMC, Hong Kah North SMC, Jurong GRC and Pioneer SMC
