Driver charged with causing death and other offences

A lorry driver was charged in court on Monday with a hit-and-run fatal accident and carrying excess passengers.
Shann Menon alias Sanjay Menon Sudhamodaren Menon, 27, is accused of causing the death of 78-year-old retiree Ng Chiew Wan along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 on Jan 24, 2010 by doing a negligent act.
He also allegedly caused hurt to a front-seat passenger in the lorry, Mr Silvaraj Arulagan, 34, when he lost control of the vehicle which mounted a centre divider and hit a tree while he was trying to avoid the pedestrian.
He is also said to have failed to stop and render assistance to Ng who had severe injuries which resulted in his death.
