SINGAPORE: With Parliament sitting on Monday, former MP and presidential candidate Dr Tan Cheng Bock has urged new MPs to fight for causes they believe in.
Dr Tan said this when launching his photo diary "We Took Them On" - which captures what he felt was a "historical and well-fought" Presidential Election.
Dr Tan's supporters came as early as noon on Sunday, an hour before the launch started, with many saying they knew Dr Tan from his days as an MP for Ayer Rajah.
Dr Tan said he had printed 1,300 books, and slightly more than half were ordered online before Sunday's launch.
Other campaign collaterals, like the election poster which cost $32 to produce, were also put up for sale.
About S$8,085 worth of items were sold when the event ended at 5.30pm. All proceeds will be donated to the Handicaps Welfare Association.
Asked about his plans, Dr Tan remained coy but said he will be watching parliament closely and had a piece of advice for new MPs.
"Be prepared to get some parliamentary wounds, and not run away when they get these parliamentary wounds. If they believe in a cause, they must stand up and fight for that cause," said Dr Tan.
