Today l spoke to a taxi driver about the fare increase.He thinks he will earn more but fears that Delgro Comfort will raise his taxi rental and commuters may avoid taxis..Then l spoke to a commuter who lamented on the peak period surcharges and the city area surcharge and the increased flagged down fare.The 6am morning surcharge hurts him most. He is going to try taking public transport. But why the increase asked another commuter, when the taxi company made $228.5 million net profit after tax for FY2010? This was a 4.1% rise over the previous financial year(ST page A6 07 dec 2011) Where is the justification?

Justification is taxi companies is a commercial entity with the management having their KPIs. They have to grow in terms of revenue and profits every year. So where is the money coming from? Likewise Sinkapore Pte Ltd.

i already said that they may increase rental by making all taxi hirers to pay $100+ for their auto transmission cabs when they announce to abolish those manual toyota crowns.:(:o

it is unlikely they will increase all cab rentals by being too obvious. unless they want to prove krafty wrong!

It is strange that almost everyone will blame workers for causing inflation when they ask for higher wages but almost no one will say anything when the greedy corporates want higher profits every year. Are SGreans so dumb not to see who are the ones causing the inflation? They are too stupid to allow NTUC and the government to work in cahoots with big businesses to screw the workers. They are happy to receive the scraps trickled down to them when the corporates succeed in getting higher profits instead of fighting for more for themselves directly. Again, this is a classic example of letting others fight for your rights and you can be sure that they won't be fighting as passionately as when you fight for them yourself.

More rich foreign talents are coming to work and live here....they need to increase taxi fares to weed out those borderline sinkies who take taxis and free up the space to these rich foreigners.

Those sinkies can then go take the MRT and buses where they originally belonged anyways.......

This will create a conducive transport environment for foreigners and force more borderline sinkies who switch to taxis to MRTs/buses
