Look at these 3 Singaporean girls. You can clearly see the one with the single eyelid looks much more uglier.

Asians have two types of eye shape. One is the single eyelid and the other is the double eyelids. There are Asians with double Eyelid although they are in a minority (30-50%) but it depends on Southeast Asia they be like 70-80% in East Asia would be like 10-30%.

Double eyelid operations have been around since our mother's times and have now gotten into mainstream fashion trends in East Asian societies as they've become more affluent.
