Downtown East killing: "Victim Darren may have taunted assailant after fist fight"
STOMPer MrWatcher believes the victim of the Downtown East murder was brutally hacked to death because he had continued to taunt his assailant after their initial fist fight.
The victim, 19-year-old Darren Ng Wei Jie, a Republic Polytechnic student, suffered multiple slash wounds and a stab to his abdomen in an attack by a group of youths after a staring incident at Downtown East at about 6pm on Oct 30. The teen died at Changi General Hospital at 10.55pm.
Said STOMPer MrWatcher:
"I've seen numerous comments scolding the murderer and pushing the blame all onto the murderer.
"But I think this happened because the victim who died taunted the murderer after the fist fight.
"Thus, the murderer got even more heated up and pulled out his weapon and started to hack the victim.
"I personally don't know any of the Victims or murderer. But after reading a Chinese newspaper report stating that the victim continues to taunt the murderer after the fist fight even when the victim's friend is trying to pull him away, I'm certain the victim was from some gang too.
"Somehow I managed to find a Facebook account of the victim's friend whom I suspect is also from the same gang after looking through some pictures.
"Whether you believe it or not, it's up to you.
"So what do you think? Would this have happened if the victim did not taunt the murderer after the fist fight?"
Meanwhile, netizens are enraged by a girl's blog posting, in which she criticised members of the public who mourn the death of the teenager.
The girl called the mourners 'hypocrites' for starting an online tribute page and saying that they miss him, even when they did not know him personally.
She wrote in her blog: "Stop the hypocrisy people. He's gone so why create something that he will not get to see? Will you, a random stranger, try and get to know what a good friend he is if he was alive? NO."
