Jubilee Celebrations Start Off With A Bang
A 21-gun salute by a Royal Navy warship at Portsmouth Naval Base has triggered the start of an action-packed
weekend of celebrations to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The Type 45 destroyer HMS Diamond sailed into port accompanied by a special diamond formation display by
four Navy helicopters.
As the ship fired its salute to the Queen in celebration of her 60 years on the throne, a naval gun overlooking the
harbour entrance at Fort Blockhouse in Gosport, Hampshire, returned fire.
