Singapore badminton player Derek Wong won a Silver medal at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday night after losing to India's Kashyap Parupalli in the Men's singles badminton finals.
He lost 2-1 in the finals with the scores 14-21, 21-11, 19-21.
Even though he did not win the Gold, the 25 year old born and bread Singaporean shuttler has made Singapore proud.
This is the first ever time that Singapore has made it into the Finals for the men's singles badminton event at the commonwealth games and Singaporeans are certainly very proud of his achievements.
The comments left by netizens on news of Derek's silver win clearly showed that his achievement was celebrated.
This is much more than could be said about the numerous gold medals won by the table tennis team which has been widely criticised as a "bought" team from China.
