A decomposed body found near the back gates of the Istana on Tuesday morning has been removed.
The police have cordoned off the area along Cavenagh Road and are investigating the crime scene.
A rotten stench was reported in the area by onlookers.
According to The Straits Times, a man arrived at the scene and asked if the unidentified body belonged to a 77-year-old man who is believed to be his father.
He then asked for a description of the body from the police before he left.
A walking stick was also removed from the scene by police officers. It is believed to be the property of the deceased.
