Marshall did well defending his clients. Francis was a great prosecutor but defending someone is different from prosecuting. Harry? He couldnt even handle rookie journalists, how to entrust case to him ? But if YPH was the judge, can consider Harry.

For a capital case, I'd choose Marshall in a heartbeat, anytime. Few know that old fart abolished the jury system because of Marshall (he admitted as much in private that he'd not allow any lawyer of Marshall's talent to trump the state). Marshall was S'pore's most successive (and persuasive) defence lawyer when it comes to trial by jury, achieving an acquittal rate of more than 95%.

Francis Seow was a superb prosecutor, probably the best we ever had. His record as defence counsel was only notable for his involvement in the Marxist conspiracy.

I might choose old fart if it were a politically related case. His instinct for self-preservation, political savvy, gumption and ruthlessness stood him in good stead when it comes to taking on colonial judges.
