Indian man arrested for slashing woman in Bukit Batok

SINGAPORE: A 63-year-old man was arrested at 10pm on Saturday at Tanjong Penjuru in connection with the assault of a woman on Wednesday.
The 59-year-old woman was returning home from work at about 4.30pm when the suspect attacked her at the void deck of Blk 227 Bukit Batok Central.
The woman suffered slash wounds to the head and is in critical condition in the National University Hospital.
The suspect will be charged in court on Monday for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon under Section 326 of the Penal Code Chapter 224.
If convicted, the suspect could face life in prison or a maximum of 15 years imprisonment, and could also be fined or caned.
