S'porean man, 23, a bus enthusiast, gets jail & caning for molesting 20 teen victims over 7 years
He got to know the victims through bus "spotting" activities and online communities.

A 23-year-old Singaporean man, who molested 20 victims between 11 and 18 years old over almost eight years, has been sentenced to four years and seven months' jail and 10 strokes of the cane.
Dante Huang Yuxuan faced 39 charges, which include molestation without consent, sexual penetration, and filming an obscene video of a victim urinating without his consent.
He pleaded guilty to 13 charges, while the remaining 26 were taken into consideration for sentencing on Oct. 21.
According to court documents, 17 of the victims were male, while the identities of the remaining three were not fully disclosed.
However, two of these victims were around 13 to 14 years old at the time of the offences.
Of the 20 victims, three of them are persons with special needs.
Transport enthusiast
According to court documents seen by Mothership, Huang regarded himself as a bus and train enthusiast.He frequently travelled around Singapore for bus "spotting" — to observe and take photos and videos of unique and rare public buses and trains, which he would post on his YouTube channel and Instagram page.
During these spotting activities and through various online communities, he got to know other bus and train enthusiasts, and became friends with them.
This was how he met and got to know most of the victims.
Touching without consent
Between Dec. 28, 2016, and Sep. 26, 2024, Huang would touch the victims' private parts over their clothes without their consent on multiple occasions in several cases.The victims would react by pushing Huang's hand away, moving away from him, or telling him to stop as it made them uncomfortable.
In some cases, Huang took a video of himself touching the victims while the victim was unaware.
Persuaded one victim
In one case, Huang and the victim regarded each other as good friends, talking on an almost daily basis about their shared interests.After an incident where he had touched the victim without his consent, Huang asked the victim during subsequent meetings if he would be willing to engage in oral sex.
Knowing that the victim was 15 at the time, Huang told him such acts was not illegal if there was consent, and as long as they were not caught.
It eventually led to three occasions in which sexual penetration occurred, in July and September 2024.
On all three occasions, Huang rented a car to bring the victim on a joyride.
Huang also took videos of the act without the victim's consent during those three encounters.
Spotted by school authority
The pair then planned to meet again for oral sex near the victim's school on Oct. 3, but the school operations manager noticed the victim waiting alone at a car park and spoke to him.When the operations manager learnt about the previous sexual offences and that they were meeting that day, he called the police.
Arrested
Police officers subsequently arrived at the scene and arrested Huang that same day.The police seized and searched his electronic devices, and found videos of sexual offences he had perpetrated against multiple victims across the years.
He had saved these videos in folders on his devices so that he could identify the victims while re-watching the videos for his sexual gratification.
Following his arrest, Huang was remanded at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), and remained there for medical examination until Oct. 18.
No bail was offered to him.
Huang's sentence took effect from Oct. 3, 2024, backdated to the date of his arrest to cover his remand period.
The sentencing
While recognising that Huang was a young offender, the prosecutor argued that youth cannot shield Huang from responsibility and a deterrent sentence because he persisted in his offending from the age of 15 till he was almost 23.Huang committed many serious offences against many young victims, the prosecutor said, and his "systematic method" of storing the videos he took of the sexual offences was evidence of a recalcitrant and hardened offender.
The psychiatric evidence submitted by IMH showed that Huang does not suffer from any mental illness, according to the prosecutor.
Additionally, the IMH report stated that there is a high risk of future similar re-offending.
"This is a case where innocence was corrupted and trust betrayed," the prosecutor said. "What should have been a harmless hobby of train and bus spotting was twisted by the accused into a platform for predation."
"Deterrence and retribution have eclipsed rehabilitation as the dominant sentencing consideration," the prosecutor concluded.
The prosecution sought a sentence of four years and seven-and-a-half months to five years and six months, along with 10 strokes of the cane.
