CTH complaint against Apple out of DSI's jurisdiction

CTH's copyright-violation allegation filed against Apple Inc and Apple Inc South Asia is not under the jurisdiction of the Department of Special Investigation, as both firms are based outside Thailand, a senior DSI official said yesterday.
The DSI is looking into whether it could take action against the Apple-run App Store, which provides applications that enable users to view English Premier League soccer matches that are broadcast in Thailand under CTH licence, said Pol Lt-Colonel Chinchote Phutthiwatthada.
He said CTH was also filing a |number of complaints against unlicensed showing of CTH-owned soccer matches for commercial purposes, as well as against people who benefit from EPL matches broadcast through Malaysian-operated Astro satellite channels. However, household users would not be faced with problems |from viewing EPL matches aired by Astro.
