FORMER Member of Parliament Tan Cheng Bock has stepped down from the board of the upcoming hospital in Jurong because he disagrees with its new name: the Ng Teng Fong Hospital.
Dr Tan said that while he had nothing against the late property tycoon, whose family donated $125 million to the hospital, this was 'a moral issue' as it looked as if a rich man could pay to have a public institution named after him.

I support his judgement fully. It should not be donation $ alone. Would you name a public building 'Saddam Hussien' or 'Stanley Ho' if the descendants donate huge sum of $ here ?

It is the fault of the people in administration....we know who they are...they eat 'chili craps for meals' so so we expect these craps...

Should name after LKY.

LKY is not dead yet.
After his passing, Singapore will have a capital city (from Tg Pagar to Lavender, and Oxley Road to the north) called Lee Kuan Yew City, taken after Ho Chi Mihn City.

Tan Cheng Bock was the ONE PAPzi who would have make me think long and hard if he stood in my constituency and the opponent were slipper man.

He was the first chairman of the Feedback Unit, and apparently did his job with some zeal. In fact, he was so keen on getting feedback that he would have long chats with his patients in Ama Keng Clinic about things other than their illness, and he was very personable. And I was told he would write to the relevant bodies concerned.

It was more than Grate Leeder could bear, and he was never given any higher office than GPC chairman. They even gave his Feedback Unit to Chandra Das (if I recall correctly) who of course set things 'right'.
