Two cases of police officers being kicked while on duty surfaced in court within a week.
In the first, a 23-year-old man was caught shouting loudly and behaving in a rowdy manner at Teban Gardens Road during pre-dawn hours on 10 November.
Channel NewsAsia reported that shortly after he was arrested and taken in a police vehicle, Zacchaeus Raphale Jr allegedly started kicking an officer as they were travelling along the Ayer-Rajah Expressway.
Zacchaeus, who had a previous conviction of disorderly behaviour, was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to the policeman on Monday.
In the second case, a 47-year-old man allegedly kicked a police officer in the face at the junction of Jalan Bukit Merah and Kampung Bahru Road.
The incident happened on 13 November at around 11.30pm. He was charged in court Thursday with voluntarily causing hurt to the officer.
Channel NewsAsia reported that Ravichandran is also accused of voluntarily causing hurt to Quek Sin Teck, 62, by punching his face and kicking his body, and behaving in a disorderly manner by shouting loudly despite the police giving him repeated warnings.
If convicted, the offenders could be jailed up to seven years, fined and caned for the charge of voluntarily causing hurt.
