The costs of doing business is the sum of wages, rents, transport costs, etc.

In Singapore the pap has allowed unabated rise in rents because many of the developers are TLCs and GLC. With high rentals, the pap can pay its cronies high salaries. The pap has also allowed transport costs to rise, not doing anything abt COEs, ERPs, petrol taxes, etc.

The only thing the pap has done is to suppress workers' salaries by importing foreign trash who are a burden to SG society. This caused much hardship to SG workers and endanger the social fabric.

The pap must not artificially suppress wages by allowing cheap foreign trash to come in to SG and cause problems to SG and Singaporeans.

Instead the pap must allow true cost of labour in SG to prevail. This will result in some marginal businesses to close. That's true entrepreneurship. It will also cause rents to come down as closure of marginal businesses will reduce demand and businesses which pay higher wages cant afford to pay high rents. It is b etter to have a good dose of antibiotics to cure this disease of cheap labour addiction than to prolong the addiction. If we take the pain now, in a few years, things will stabilise and that will be good for SG.

What the pap is doing now is tantamount to robbing from SG workers to enrich GLC and TLC businesses.

A PM who allows and condones the exploitation of 500,000 singapore workers by paying them artifically suppressed wages is morally bankrupt.

Well said, what is productivity, when one work hard to earn a stipend, to pay for food, housing, household expenses, kids & an expensive government etc, have to put in time to serve NS & Reservist, when our RICE BOWL is broken by cheap foreign laborers ( not the manufacturing or construction ones, take note) from India, Philippines, PRC, Mynanmar, Malaysia to name a few.

Who doesn't know the costs...but at whose??

Singaporeans must know that it is the pap's greed that made them favour Capitaland, Kepland's profits and allowed cheap foreign trash into SG. If they refused cheap trash labour, busnesses will be forced to employ Singaporeans at SG wages and Capitaland will have to price their rents downwards so that there are enough businesses and demands for their offices and foodcourts. In the end, pure economics prevail and workers get their fair wages

Look at Shop and Save and NTUC Fairprice.

Because they have access to cheap foreign workers, they see no need to improve productivity. Why do we need 24-hr supermarkets in SG. if labour is truly costed at realistic prices, I am sure these supermarkets will not employ cheap cashiers and stackers for 24hr ...We shd have supermarket open from 8am to 5pm everyday with late night shopping on wednesdays up to 10pm. SG families will have to adjust because labour is truly priced and if they want convenience, they can go to 7-11.

Shop and Save and NTUC Fairprice will have to improve productivity and cant abuse cheap labour once the govt allows true wage of labour to prevail in SG. I see a lot of benefits when the pap doesnt allow businesses to abuse and artificially distorts the cost of labour. SG will then dont need to have so many poorly paid foreigners

The PAP and businesses have to be realistic and face the real world. Most Singaporeans can at least get a Poly education. Businesses have to accept that Singaporeans are better educated and skilled and there fore are likely to be more productive and shd be paid foor their training and skills.

Businesses shd not expect to employ Poly graduates and pay them $1.2k per month
