If you suspect very well- paid civil servants to be corrupt, chances that they are mostly not, becos why should they ?
for instance, let say, we tok about rich govt, ministers are paid hundreds of thousands per month, so there is no point to tok about kickbacks right ! They want more money, they can raise GDP and then up pay right !
Let say if you are a corrupt officer ,earn a lot of money, if no people catch you, you can retire rich and live a peaceful life, no people know what you have right !
You see, the most scary thing is that if a govt anyohow use public money to invest in many places and yet the public donch know what is going on !
If you are a high ranking officer, who invest a lot, win a lot and also lose a lot….only you know right !
You see, when you invest lose money….people have to pay for your loss like TV license cannot go away, GST, water tax go up, taxes becum more creative and people are paying more and more taxes… !
But let say you win…..people also donch know how they can get some money from you !
If you are the one who hold the public money and got the say only…..when you get very old,,,you dare to just retire and live in peace ? of course you die die also want to be a security guard to the doors of truth right ! You sure scared right !
Also , for example, if you have a country, a very small island surrounded by waters, you buy a lot of tanks and fighter plane…let say island like sinkapore….practical ? Air space too small, and if concrete jungles collapsed, tanks how to move thru big piles of debris right ,,,,so are you doing the right thing ?
Corruption sometimes may not affect the lives of commners, but mismanagement of public funds can be disastrous right !
So which is more jialat ?
