Concert promoter ordered to pay $600K for inaccurate GST returns

A local promoter and entertainment show organiser was fined $10,000 and ordered to pay a penalty of $601,633 for making incorrect goods and services tax (GST) returns.

A representative of Unusual Entertainment pleaded guilty to four charges of wrongly stating the output tax in its GST returns, resulting in underpayment of $300,816 in 2005.

The total amount of GST underpaid in the eight charges was $502,922. The other four charges were taken into consideration.

The company is responsible for holding concerts here by A-list stars such as Jacky Cheung, Sammi Cheng and Jay Chou from Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Unusual Entertainment found guilty of under-declaration of GST

SINGAPORE: A local promoter and organiser of shows and other entertainment acts has been found guilty of failing to ensure that its tax returns were accurate.

Unusual Entertainment Pte Ltd (UEPL) wrongly stated the output tax in its Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns, resulting in an underpayment of S$502,922.27 in GST.

It was ordered to pay a penalty of S$601,632.72 and a fine of S$10,000.

UEPL pleaded guilty to four charges of under-declaration of GST without reasonable excuse.

Four remaining charges were taken into consideration for sentencing.
