Robert summarizes the problem :
My understanding is that you can delete a device from your Google Account, but any of the info that was synced lingers with the device.
Scenario: I spend a weekend with my sister in Pittsburgh. I sign into Gmail on her computer, sign into a website or two (Amazon, my bank, pay a utility bill). I sign out of my Gmail account, but synced info (such as Bookmarks and Password Manager) lingers with my sister's computer. So, while I have "signed out" of Chrome, much info still remains on my sister's computer.
This Louis guy didn't realize that by synchronizing PCs, Google will combine all your bookmarks from all your sychronized devices, and he ended up with 70,000+ bookmarks making a mess of his Chrome browser.
I mistakenly clicked on "sync your devices" - we have two computers - and now have thousands of bookmarks showing up on my computer. I have since "unsynced" the two computers but the unwanted bookmarks (from our second computer) are still on my computer. If I delete them one by one - which will take days as there's around 70,000 of then - will this also delete them from our second computer, which I don't want to do? Is there an easier way to remove synced bookmarks from my google account?
This David guy lagi jialat, he ended up with 1.53 million bookmarks!!! How many bookmarks do *YOU* have on your browser?
To give you an idea of how many bookmarks I have that are all messed up, Google Chrome reports that I have the following number of bookmarks: 1,529,648.
Now if these were all nice and organized, no problem, but they are not. Many duplicates and confusion abounds. Totally useless bookmarks. And Google expects me to go through one by one and delete each one?
Anyway, User 7286779044757308812 figured out the way to handle (not exactly solve) this problem :
Hi - just figured it out. I was having the same problem. First, I unsynced my profile in the settings menu. Same result you had. To remove all the bookmarks, etc. without doing it across all the devices, just do the following:
Click on the "face" icon in the upper right hand corner of Chrome, on the computer you want to remove your profile from. Click the "Manage People" link with the little gear icon next to it. You should see a profile with your name or info. On the upper right hand corner there is a little menu you can click. There is then an option you will see to remove that profile from Chrome, which will get rid of all the links, apps, etc. that have been synced to that device. All of the info, links, apps, and settings will be preserved on your original computer.
