Hello,
I’m here to write about an experience I had last Fri, 3 Jun. My local lawyer pal and I were at Molly Roffey’s Irish Pub on Market St. A Filipino waitress came around to take our orders, but 15 minutes passed and she was not back with even our drinks. So we got her back and she said to our faces, “Sorry, I don’t know who took your orders.” She outrightly lied in front of us!
So then we got her manager to come to our table and she brought us our drinks, as a start. She also ignored us and walked away when we asked her to kindly bring us our plates and cutleries.
My take is this, it’s obvious that she only wanted to serve the Westerners as there was only 1 table with white men there, and she had been hovering around them. Now, my question is, do we locals not look like we’re deserving to be served?
We told her manager, “If it’s belittling of her to serve us then she could get another colleague of hers to do that, and it’s not as if we can’t pay. And if it’s because she’s cheap to hire so you hired her then we strongly suggest you look into your hiring requirement and methods because clearly this is VERY bad service, and we’re locals here, we do not need to feel like 2nd class citizens in our own country!”
I am very bent on taking this matter up because clearly that Filipino had a very very bad attitude, whereas her other Filipino waitress colleague, I could see, has a better attitude and is more friendluy with other Asian faces/customers.
Clearly this is really adding onto our views on how the foreigners are affecting our daily lives. I am not a racist and I’m happy to say I have really good pals from different nationalities but this matter is really the top.
Sandy
