he kpkb about autopilot issues at that spot and still did not heed audio alert and warning to wake up and put hands on steering wheels when approaching that spot going from us 101 towards cal highway 85. i know that spot very well. ever since caltrans built 2 carpool lanes on the left of us 101 freeway exiting to 85 (one of very few left-lane exits and on-ramps on the freeway in californicate) and a gleaming “white” barrier in the center divide, autopilot features and sensors in autonomous driving vehicles have been having issues with that stretch as the white barrier becums a mirror when sun shines on it and reflects the morning sunlight to vehicles going southbound on 101. it is similar to “white-out” effects for both manned and autonomous vehicles when encountering blizzards or snowy conditions and ice on the roadways during winter. sensors get tricked and ai gets confused. this chap as an engineer should know better never to rely on ai and software. he was either asleep or surfing on his ipad when the suv struck the barrier on the center divide. what a moron.
