A COMPANY was fined $12,000 and ordered to pay a penalty of almost $256,600 on Friday for tax evasion.

Mini Environment Service (MES), which operates dormitories and manages foreign workers, had included fictitious expenses amounting to about $371,700 in its statements of accounts for 2001 and 2002.
These comprised sub-contract fees supposedly charged by various sub-contractors when no work or services were performed by these companies for MES.
MES was charged with 12 counts of preparing false statements of accounts and under-reporting its income for 2002 and 2003.
The prosecution withdrew nine of the charges after the company compounded them for almost $1.1 million.
A representative from MES pleaded guilty to the remaining three charges.

The owner is a grassroots CCC leader, tied to PAP for a long time. I believe he was a religious leader, a community leader and previously linked to Kg Kembangan. Look like the Tax department after spending so many years investigating ended up given small rap on the knuckes.

The man who ran the show for him at the material time was asst commissioner for Police VSC and is also a grassroots leader.

These are the types of calibre within the PAP.

That is why these people get contracts...and contacts..especially the ability to tender to build & run dormitory...lorries contracting service...for ferrying workers...logistics etc..
