I note that nowsadays,..more and more Malaysian - Plate motorcycles are being used, to deliver fastfood,..and do dispatch business.
even some out-sourced parking attendants are riding Malaysian-plate mbikes.

And also, Malaysian Lorries,..after delivering goods in Singapore,..does cargo deliveries within Singapore.

Isn't this a nice loophole ?

Pay much lower equipment costs,...earn Singapore dollars, contribution to road congestion, pollution,..yet no need to be bullied by damn authorities to pay COE here ?

Does insurance cover the motorbike used for commercial purpose outside the country of registration? Another question, does insurance premiums paid for goods vehicle (eg. lorries, pickups) cover human passengers in an accident?

Cheers!

the Malaysian (or other asian) way,.."Do first,..worry about compliance, later"
Singapore way is the reverse.

The COE system, has FAILED to control car population, cos' of loopholes like this (amongst others)

Enforcement targets easy preys, such as bus-stop car stop,...but there is simply no enforcement on this Malaysian stealth traffic.

And over at causeway, Link2 bridge, there is simply ZERO enforcement, on last-minute lane cutters !

Whilst its (original) intention was good, any thinking person will realize that curbing automobile growth is against human natural tendency and impossible to succeed. The only way to stop vehicle growth is to ban car ownership. Every school boy (or girl) will want to own a car as soon as he starts working, this is the norm in every industrialized society. It is just unfortunate that Singapore has little land and is prone to overcrowding. Whilst in most other countries, car manufacturers fiercely compete with each other by reducing prices and offering incentives to purchase their models, in Singapore, the dealerships sit and wait. The customers go to the showrooms drooling over the models and speculate on COE price fluctuations. What's even worse is that many vehicles are still good at 10 years of age, and have to be scrapped, a very wasteful process.

Personally, I do not have a solution to this, but it isn't my job. Whilst many people complain about the exorbitantly high prices of cars, there seem to be many who quite easily afford Mercedes, BMWs, and other expensive makes. Whatever it is, it is unlikely (or rather, impossible) that there will be a reduction in the number of cars on the road.

Cheers!

Some company hire Malaysian. So those Malaysian are allow to drive Malaysia vehicle or motorbike under work permit or spass.
Company willing to pay all expenses like ERP/Fuel(from Malaysia damn cheap) and $20/day car permit to drive in SG.

Now many company downgrade from car/van/lorry by buying motorbike for worker that need to running few place one day. Eg aircon service/lift maintanance/LTA parking officer................ that why motorbike COE shoot out from around $1k last year end to $4k 2 month ago.
Very soon many company will buy motorbike for their sale person. No more car.
