I am sure you heard about the recent news about CNB's wrong statistics. That Gay chap blamed it on the IT systems. Are these IT systems outsourced?

Another "honest" mistake. Come next year they will tell us what a great job they are doing in bring the suddenly high figures down.

Did these statistics help the PAPzis win the elections? After all, they have always portrayed themselves as being effective on crime. Has it been used to show the 'effectiveness' of the mandatory death penalty?

Not just about GIGO.

User must have given the IT personnel the system user requirements.

User is suppose to do test run; before and after implementing the new system, and compare the results. Print statistic report from old system, then migrate data to new system, then print report from new system, then compare with the report from old system.

First scenario: Users didnt compare the before and after results, ------> users testing failure------> users bochap.

Second scenario: Users compared the before and after results and found no discrepencies in the report between old and new system ----------> statistics had been wrong in the old system --------> statistics maybe wrong before 2008 as well:rolleyes:

So lame to blame IT system.

CNB director Ng Boon Gay blamed it on the IT system, used since 2008, since it did not include unresolved cases. This guy obviously doesn't understand computers - it's all about GIGO, garbage in, garbage out. You feed in only resolved cases, it reports only resolved cases.

I am sure it has to do with this year 2 elections. Before election, tweaked statistics to look good and healthy. After election blamed the computer for making mistakes to justify why ISA and death penalty is necessary. Welcomed to Singapore, country of lies.

Good point. I wonder who is the smart-ass senior Civil Servant (Scholar?) gave such user requirements. I wonder how many wrong advices they gave.

I was wondering whether did the IT company that received this tender cocked-up. You guys hear SGX outsourced some trading systems development to an Indian company and the ah nehs messed it up terribly. SGX has to re-outsource to a Swedish company, which did a great job.
