CNB arrest drug trafficker, seize drugs worth over $11,000

SINGAPORE: Officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested a 54-year-old drug trafficker in the Jalan Besar area on Thursday.
The Singaporean was spotted riding a bicycle at about 9.40pm and officers arrested him at the Berseh Food Centre area.
They also seized about 38g of heroin and S$1,759 cash from him.
A search of his residence yielded another 68g of heroin, a small amount of Ice and Erimin-5 tablets, and various drug-smoking apparatus.
The CNB said the drugs had a total street value of more than S$11,000.
The suspect is being investigated for repeat drug trafficking.
If convicted, he may face the enhanced penalty of a minimum of 10 years of imprisonment.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, stiffer punishments are in place for repeat drug traffickers since May 2013. - CNA/de
