A jealous boyfriend in Taiwan allegedly killed and dismembered his 27-year-old girlfriend before hanging himself, in a grisly murder that has gripped headlines in the island.

The man, 28-year-old boxing coach and former mixed martial arts fighter Gary Chu, is believed to have murdered Ms Huang I-Min for lying to him about her virginity, reported local news outlets. The pair reportedly met on the mobile dating platform Tinder.

Ms Huang's body was found dismembered and the parts separated into eight plastic bags, reported Taiwan News on Wednesday (May 30).

The National Taiwan University graduate's remains were discovered after her brother contacted the police on May 26, claiming that Ms Huang had been missing for a week.

Her brother also posted on Facebook, accusing Chu of holding his sister against her will.

Police then searched Chu's apartment and after reviewing surveillance footage, found that Ms Huang had entered her boyfriend's flat on May 20 - the day she was last seen alive.

Two days later, on May 22, Chu was spotted again in surveillance footage leaving his flat, carrying seven trash bags.

After a search, police announced on Sunday (May 27) that they had found the seven bags, containing Ms Huang's dismembered remains, buried in a garden.

On Wednesday morning at around 2am, police said that they found an eighth bag containing Ms Huang's left thigh, about 20m away from where the other body parts had been buried.

Ms Huang's internal organs, however, are still missing.

According to a mortician involved in investigating the unnatural death, Ms Huang's organs are believed to have been flushed down the toilet, reported Apple Daily.

The mortician added that if Ms Huang's organs cannot be located anywhere, an autopsy might be conducted on Chu's body to check for any residue of her organs inside.

In the wee hours of Monday (May 28), Chu's body was found hanging by the neck from a tree near a hospital in Xinzhuang district. Beside his body was a bag of items, including a suicide note with the message: "She wronged me."

Before he allegedly committed suicide, Chu posted on his Facebook, saying that he had never meant to be mean or violent towards Ms Huang, or even restricted her freedom.

"She was the one who kept looking for me," Chu's post on May 26 read. "She told me how much she loved me, how much she needed me. I broke up with her, but she begged me to let her stay."

He also added in his post that Ms Huang had told him she used Tinder for one-night stands and had deceived him into thinking that she was a virgin.

He said Ms Huang had promised to change, but "in the end, she did not". He also claimed that she would secretly chat with other men online, and that he felt sad and betrayed.

He reportedly also suspected that she had been cheating on him with other men that she had also apparently met via the dating app.

Chilling CCTV footage has also captured the final images of victim Yee-min Huang, 27, as she followed the suspect Gary Chu, 28, up the stairwell to his flat where she was ultimately murderedand her body parts disposed of in seven bin bags.

Chu, an amateur MMA fighter and boxing trainer living in New Taipei City's Banqiao District in North Taiwan, took his own life a few days later, with police also discovering a suicide note with the words: 'She wronged me.'

The first indication of a problem was on May 26 when the victim's brother, Francis Huang, appealed to members of the public for help searching for his missing sister, who he said had been out of contact since May 19.

He suspected she was being held against her will by her Tinder boyfriend Chu.

Later the same day, Chu claimed in a Facebook post that he had 'never once hurt her or restricted her freedom', suggesting that it was Yee-min who kept coming back to him when he tried to break up with her.

In the post, Chu also revealed possible motives for the grisly crime he is being accused of, writing: 'After we met on Tinder, she lied to me saying she was a virgin. I felt deceived and betrayed when I found out she had been lying and also cheating on me with other men.'

Yee-min's brother contacted the police, who searched Chu's home in Banqiao District and found it empty. His relatives also claimed they had not been in contact with him for several days.

The authorities then inspected surveillance cameras in the residential complex, which revealed the last images of Yee-min on May 20.

They also showed Chu carrying seven bin bags from his flat at 1am on May 22, tossing the individual packs into the flower garden of his complex.

On May 27 the authorities announced that they had unearthed the victim's scattered remains from the flower bed, while Chu's body was found hanged from a tree at 5am the next day near the Ministry of Health and Welfare Hospital in Xinzhuang District.

Since news of the shocking case made headlines in Taiwan, a woman claiming to be Chu's ex-wife has also made public pictures of her injuries, claiming that her former husband had been abusive and also locked her up.

Further investigations are under way.
