I don't like this for 2 reasons.
1) PAP will use this as a reason to later justify higher pay and bonuses for the people who really matter (themselves and their supporters).
2) How many of these support staff and junior officers are native borned Singaporeans? I think less than half. I am not interested in giving any FTs any bonus or pay increase. I rather take their money and give it the ones that are locals.
Civil servants will be paid a mid-year Annual Variable Component (AVC) of 0.3 month in July, the Public Service Division announced on Tuesday.
In addition, Division VI and III civil servants, mainly support staff and junior officers who are on lower wages, will get a raise of between $80 and $90 in their monthly salary from July.
The increment is higher than the National Wages Council's (NWC) recommendation to give a built-in wage increase of at least $50 to low-wage workers.
Division IV officers, whose monthly salaries now range between $860 and $1,540, will get an additional increment of S$60 per month. This is in addition to their normal annual increment of $30, bringing the total increase to $90. Division IV staff who have reached the maximum of their salary scales will get the same wage increase of S$60 per month.
Division III officers, all who earn between $1,150 and $2,700, will get an additional increment of S$30 per month. This is in addition to their normal annual increment of $50, bringing the total increase to $80. Division III civil staff who have reached the maximum of their salary scales will get the same wage increase of S$30 per month.
In all, the increment will benefit more than 9,500 officers.
