(Observer Network News)

According to the British "Guardian" reported on May 11, local time on the 11th, thousands of people marched in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, calling for independence in Wales, organizers said it was the first time in Wales history to hold such a parade.

Some protesters say they have been lifelong supporters of Wales independence, while others say they are changing attitudes because of Britain’s “Brexit” and austerity policies. A recent poll by ITV Wales shows that 12% of people in Wales support autonomy.

When the parade ended with the performance of the traditional Welsh national anthem, Adam Price, the leader of the nationalist party Plaid Cymru, said that if a decision is made nationwide, the Welsh issue may It's easier to solve.

Price said, "Over the years, we hope to see an independent Wales, which seems very far away. However, the trend is reversing, the parade is growing and the voice is getting louder and louder."

“For decades, the neglect of the British government has led to poverty and underinvestment. One third of our children live in a relatively poor environment. You just have to look at the chaos caused by the UK’s “Brexit” and you will find the British government. Not suitable for governance or for Wales."

The nationalist organization "All Under One Banner Cymru" spokesperson Gwyleym told WalesOnline: "Since the Brexit referendum, the debate surrounding the future of Wales has intensified."

Gwelim pointed out that "some groups believe that Wales and its people as a country independent of the UK will have a better future... People are increasingly aware that independence is normal."

In addition to Wales, Scotland also wants to be independent.

According to the Xinhua News Agency, on April 24th, the Scottish Government Chief Minister Nicolas Stekin said that if the United Kingdom leaves the EU, Scotland will strive to hold a referendum before May 2021 to decide whether to become independent from the UK.

Such a referendum, Scotland once in 2014, did not succeed. At that time, 55% of the Scots decided to stay in the UK and believed that the joint relationship that had lasted more than 300 years should be continued.

However, after that, the British decided to "Brei" and let the voice of Scottish independence reappear.

In the 2016 “Brexit” referendum, 52% of Britons supported “Brexit”, but in the UK, public opinion was severely torn: Wales and England supported the majority of “Brexit”, Northern Ireland and Scotland. It is the "Leaving Europe" faction.
On April 11th, in London, England, British Prime Minister Teresa May (former) stated in the lower house of parliament the relevant decision of the EU on the "Brexit" extension of the UK. From Xinhua News Agency on April 11, in London, England, the British Prime Minister Reza May (former) in the lower house of parliament to state the EU's decision on the extension of the UK's "Brexit" extension from Xinhua News Agency

The Scottish National Party led by Sturgeon said that when the Scottish independence referendum was held in 2014, the reason for the "British" sentiment was that Scotland could stay in the EU only if it continued to stay with the UK. But now, Britain has to leave the EU itself. If Scotland is not independent, it has to follow, which is contrary to the wishes of the Scots.

The United Kingdom was originally scheduled to "Brexit" on March 29, but as the British continued to fight in the British political circles around "Brexit", the British people were deeply anxious about the impact of the uncertain future of "Brexit" on life. The parliament vetoed the "Brexit" agreement reached between the British government and the EU three times, and almost ruled out all alternatives. The "Brexit" process was delayed.

Currently, the deadline for Brexit has been postponed to October 31. British Prime Minister Teresa May is being forced to talk to the opposition party and hopes to reach a "Brexit" program that will be supported by the majority of the parliament.

While the British political circles continue to struggle around "Brexit", the British people are deeply anxious about the impact of the uncertain future of "Brexit" on life. Some British people have said that "Brexit" has become "a shameful farce."

Thousands have demonstrated in Cardiff to call for an independent Wales in what organisers said was the first such march in Welsh history.
Some protesters said they had been lifelong supporters of independence, while others said they were converted by Brexit and austerity. A recent poll for ITV Wales showed that 12% of people support self-government.
As the march ended with a rendition of the Welsh national anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, Adam Price, leader of nationalist party Plaid Cymru, said that Welsh problems could be more easily solved if decisions were taken within the nation.
“For many years, our desire to see an independent Wales has seemed distant. But the tide is turning, the marches are growing, and the voices are louder,” he said.

The organiser of a pro-independence march in Glasgow is facing prosecution over the event’s start time.
Manny Singh, who helped run the All Under One Banner march last Saturday, has been charged for failing to follow the timings and restrictions for the event, which police estimated drew between 30,000 and 35,000 people. Organisers said 100,000 people attended.
Singh claimed on Monday he had been arrested for refusing to “bend a knee to the British empire”.
Glasgow city council’s processions committee gave the go-ahead for the march last month but told organisers to move the start time from 1.30pm to 11am because of concerns from the police and fire service about disruption to the city centre and public safety.

The committee, which is made up of two Scottish National party councillors and one Scottish Green councillor, said marchers should assemble from 10am in Kelvingrove Park. However, the event’s organisers continued to ask participants to meet at 1pm and leave the park at 1.30pm.

In a post on his Facebook page, Singh, 39, said: “I always knew that the unionist Glasgow city council could push for this. I evaluated the risks to myself and only myself what would happen if I defied GCC and their ridiculous demands to keep numbers low.

“Worst case a heavy fine and three months’ custodial sentence. That is nothing compared to others not just in Scotland but worldwide. Who endured death, torture, jail to make their nations free.”

He claimed the police “had orders from above to arrest me”, and added: “I always have said when trying to fight the British empire you can bend a knee and sell out. Or you do what is necessary to make your country free without harming another.”

Singh was charged under section 65 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, which details offences by those organising public processions. The offence can carry a fine of up to £2,500, three months in prison, or both.

Police Scotland said: “Police can confirm that a 39-year-old man will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal for failing to comply with conditions imposed on a procession.”

Thousands take part in independence march

Tens of thousands of people have taken part in a march through Glasgow in support of Scottish independence.
The All Under One Banner march left Kelvingrove Park at 13:30 BST and made its way through the city centre before ending with a rally at Glasgow Green.
Some people joined in with the crowds of marchers waving Saltires as the event passed along the city streets.
The March For Independence is one of a series of events taking place across Scotland between May and October.

Police Scotland said that about 30,000-35,000 people had attended the rally at Glasgow Green.
Event organiser Neil Mackay said the march was not a "political party march".
He added: "Obviously independence has got political ramifications, but it's a moral cause, that is not a political cause.
"This is a moral cause and so this movement, this march, is open to everybody who desires an independent Scotland, whether they are Scottish or they are not Scottish.
"There's people here from across the world who have travelled, and obviously from across the UK."

All Under One Banner describes itself as a "pro-independence organisation whose core aim is to march at regular intervals until Scotland is free" and says it is open to "everyone who desires to live in an independent nation".
A number of speakers and musical acts took part in the rally on a stage in the park, alongside a selection of pro-independence community stalls.
The event saw a series of traffic management measures put in place around the M8, with the closure of the westbound carriageway from the junction 15 on-slip at Townhead and a lane closure in place through to junction 18 off-slip at Charing Cross.

March for Welsh Independence in Cardiff

There has been a huge turnout of people from across Wales in Cardiff today to take part in what is being described as the "first ever" march for Welsh independence.

The event was organised by All Under One Banner (AUOB) Cymru and was supported by YesCrymu, Awoken Cymru and Welsh Football Fans for Independence.

Estimates suggest that far more than 1,000 people, and possibly as many as 3,000, have attended and organisers hope the march will get more people talking about Welsh independence in what they described as a "resurgence of interest".

Llywelyn ap Gwilym, a spokesperson for AUOBCymru said: "The debate around Wales’ constitutional future has intensified since the vote for the UK to leave the European Union.

"Several groups which believe that Wales and its people would have a better future as an independent nation outside the UK, including YesCymru and Undod, have strived to engage the broader public and bring the debate into the mainstream. There is an increasing realisation that independence is normal."

The march began at 1.30pm at City Hall and proceeded along Queen Street and the Hayes, before finishing in front of the Central Library, where there were speeches from Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price, Ben Gwalchmai of Labour 4 Indy Wales, Siôn Jobbins of Yes Cymru, Sandy Clubb of Undod and poet Ali Goolyad.

Organiser estimates more than 2,000 people attended march
March organiser Llywelyn ap Gwilym of All Under One Banner (AUOB) Cymru hailed an “absolutely brilliant” event.
He said:
“It’s impossible to tell how many people were here today but we estimated 2,000 people to the police and council and I think we were comfortably there but I don’t think the number matters.
“We had a really good turn out and more importantly it was a great turn out in terms of everyone bringing their flags, everyone singing and having a great time.
“I spoke to our police liaison officer and he commented how nice an atmosphere it was and it really was so we’re all pretty happy.”

The march ends with a passionate rendition of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau
Adam Price, leader of Plaid Cymru, draws the biggest cheer of the event.
He said: “For many years, our desire to see an independent Wales has seemed distant. But the tide is turning, the marches are growing, and the voices are louder.
“Decades of Westminster neglect have resulted in poverty and under-investment. A third of our children are living in relative poverty and you only have to look at the Brexit chaos to see that Westminster is not fit to govern or represent Wales.
“People are waking up to the idea that independence is normal and that the solution to our problems in Wales is to take our future into our own hands.”
