Navigator accidentally ejected from French Rafale fighter jet.
The navigator of a French Rafale B fighter plane was seriously injured due to an accident at the Saint-Dizier airbase, France, on March 20.
Approximately at 1 pm the plane was taking off to perform a training mission when the rear seat ejector was triggered. The pilot managed to safely land the plane despite the damage to the tail rudder.
The 64-year-old navigator, who is not a soldier, was thrown off the runway and suffered serious injuries, including back injuries. He is hospitalized and is in a stable and conscious state.
The pilot suffered cuts in his hands due to the breaking of the canopi. France has launched three investigations to clarify this rare and unusual accident.
