Chinese police crack 73,000 drug cases Jan-June

China's police cracked 73,000 drug-related criminal cases in the first half of 2013 and apprehended 81,000 criminal suspects, year-on-year increases of 32.9 percent and 34 percent, respectively, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, police confiscated 4.1 tonnes of heroin, 8.9 tonnes of methamphetamine and six tonnes of ketamine, year-on-year rises of 12.5 percent, 21.9 percent and 311 percent respectively, according to the MPS.
Under a ministry campaign to run mid-August to mid-December, police forces will tighten up examinations on drug distribution via sea, land and air.
