China must be smashed up into small bits and pieces like what was done to Yugoslavia, because a unified China inevitably results in the 'Middle Kingdom' mentality, which sees itself as the centre of the universe and countries outside of its domain are nothing more than vassals or tributaries. The 'Four Barbarians' must be subject to the 'Mandate of Heaven'. 
A splintered China is also good because the Tiongs will be busy fighting with one another on the mainland and won't stir shit overseas... just like in the good old days. No, we do not need a 'strong and stable' China. Remove it from your economic considerations and you will find the pros outweigh the cons.
