China started to develop Batam Transhipment Port and will ban China cargoes (export and import) from being transshipped at Singapore PSA

China will appoint COSCO Shipping to pull CMA and Evergreen to move their transhipment hub to Batam with the help of Samudera Shipping Company.

Eventually the am is to persuade Maersk and Hapag to shift their transshipment hub to Batam also

China's Yangpu Port, situated in the Hainan Free Trade Port, is emerging as a major regional trade hub. Leveraging aggressive strategies and a new partnership with Singapore's PSA, it aims to capture a larger share of the Southeast Asian shipping market. This development positions Yangpu as a challenger to Singapore's dominance. PSA Singapore is renowned for its expertise in consolidating smaller shipments, a key practice for achieving economies of scale in international shipping.

And yet PSA is very optimistic building 66 berths at Tuas mega port.
That said the big shipping lines won’t totally shift over maybe just divert some traffic there. Singapore managed to fight off Tanjong Pelepas even as Maersk was major investor there diverting 85% of their regional cargo there.

Bro, now the situation has changed, China is a big brother now. Tanjong Pelepas is Jiuhu

Have you ever wondered why ASEAN countries, despite having smaller shipments that could be sent directly and faster to China, still choose to send their containers to Singapore for consolidation before shipping to China?

Because sinkie is a transhipment hub. And most of the trade is with china. If china withdraws.....
China starting to use its economy as weapon just like what US doing.

I think like already started quite sometime liao. So tat is why sinkie gov keep building airport and shift focus on airport stopover instead.

sg has the worst beaches. hundreds of cargo ships and tankers parked at waters off beach any day and night. eyesore.

,,imagine the number of SG Container Trucking Hauliers that will lose the business of inter-gateway railing.transfer of transhipment containers, when the Tuas Container Port is Fully operational

Is there a ranking of Container hauliers in Singapore now ?

The death throes of a dying regime. In the end whatever they do in Batam will be another corrupted 烂尾 project.
