I used to read much more than I do today. Enjoyed war & history, science-fiction. Perhaps I should revive that habit, get a good book, sit by the beach or pool and let my thoughts wander into the author's story. Paperbacks are fine. I can't get used to reading at length staring at an electronic monitor.

Cheers!

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The first 24-hour bookstore in Beijing opened but did not close its doors on Tuesday, to the applause of a bookish public.
The Sanlian Taofen Bookstore, owned by China Publishing Group Corp., announced on Tuesday that 10-day trial of the 24-hour bookstore from Tuesday until April 18, and if the trial goes smoothly the store may never close again.
Manager Zhang Zuozhen said 3 million yuan ( 480,000 U.S.dollars) has been invested in the operation. The news was met with a warm welcome from netizens. "Yi Ren DU" said "the bookstore has guts... in an era when people read less than four books a year."
According to a survey by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication in 2013, Chinese people read 4.39 books per capita in the past year, a figure that trails far behind major developed countries. The reading rate has actually dropped from 60.4 percent in 2000 to 54.9 percent in 2012.
"The 24-hour bookstore has shed a slim of light on the nation's pursuit of intellectual nourishment," Netizen "RunEmma" said.
Established in 1996, the bookstore is in the Dongcheng District of downtown Beijing.

My 24 hour bookstore is Amazon.com and I don't have to worry about finding a parking space.

Every Friday night, check in to RWS ...have a sumptous dinner and next morning, hit the beach pool of the Hard Rock Cafe hotel. The perfect short getaway. Since you are a foreign talent, can go to casino too if you feel lucky.

Yeah, might get lucky too and find a willing SPG..........................

LOL ................ LOL

Every visitor to Singapore I meet from Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia asks me how's the RWS or Marina Bay Sands casino and seem surprised when I tell them I've not visited, and that's the truth. A few years ago, I followed some inlaws when they visited Gentings, and that's the only time I've been to a casino. Honestly, I am not at all interested to gamble and have no yearnings to go to any casino. Don't feel that I'm missing anything anyway. Sorry to dissappoint ya'll. If I do accientally pop into a casino, I'll likely spend my time in a pub there.

Cheers!

It's going to be difficult for me to switch to e-books. Short articles and messages are okay, but anything lengthy, I have to read from paper or any other hardcopy. For books and novels, I bookmark it by dogearring the page at the top corner. Can't do that on an e-book. I know it's the way of the future, but in this, I'm happy keeping to the old.

Cheers!

speaking of reading books are you guys more comfortable reading a paperback or reading it on say an electronic device like an ipad. Strangely i sometimes feel uncomfortable reading from these tablets or from the phone. Reading from the pc screen isn't feasible either.

There are six Chinese restaurants in the RWS casino I was told. And the prices are affordable. I will never spend $100 to enter a casino so I will never know how it looks like inside.
