A 41-year-old man, suspected to have robbed an iPad from a 23-year-old woman, was arrested near Penjuru Close on Monday.
The woman had complained that she was using her iPad at a void deck in Jurong West Avenue 1 last Thursday when an unknown man threw chilli powder in her face, snatched the iPad and fled.
The iPad was recovered from the suspect, who is to be charged today with robbery with hurt.
If found guilty, he can be jailed for five to 20 years and caned at least 12 times.
Elsewhere, five other people, including a woman, have been arrested in various theft cases.
Two men and a woman, aged 22 to 25 years, were arrested yesterday, less than an hour after police got a report that some people were loitering suspiciously at a heavy vehicle carpark on Woodlands Avenue 9.
When the police arrived, the suspects had driven off, but a description of their vehicle was available.
It was spotted at Bukit Batok East Avenue 5 with the three suspects, stopped and searched.
Eight heavy vehicle tyre rim covers, believed to have been stolen, were recovered.
The police also arrested a teen suspected to have stolen a number of cashcards from cars parked in private compounds in Telok Kurau and Kembangan since June. He is believed to have jumped over gates and fences to do so.
The 17-year-old was caught in the vicinity of Eunos Crescent on Monday.
And a 52-year-old man was arrested near the National Library yesterday after a 21-year-old woman complained that her $900 mobile phone was stolen on July 28.
