A Chinese man who made a living as a look-alike of former Nationalist leader Chiang Kai-shek has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for smuggling drugs, reports the state-run China News Service.　

Yang Junhong, who resembles the late Republic of China leader, earned a living in Fenghua — Chiang's hometown in Zhejiang province — by dressing like the Generalissimo and charging money from tourists to take photos.

Yang was arrested with his son last March when the police found 700 kilograms of narcotics in his car. He later admitted to having smuggled drugs three times from Guangdong province but said he did it alone.

The look-alike reportedly began to smuggle drugs after he was unable to make enough money from imitating Chiang Kai-shek alone, while local authorities also raised administration fees for his business from 10,000 yuan (US$1,600) to 30,000 yuan (US$4,900) a month.

Yang's son, who claimed he was at first unaware that his father was smuggling drugs, received a sentence of nine years in prison, the China News Service said.
