Chemical castration for rapists

Some time ago (years, actually), a suggestion was floated that chemical castration be considered as a possible punishment for rapists.

I thought it was not bad an idea. But it was abandoned after some people said it would be barbaric.

Curiously, these same people do not think caning or the death penalty is barbaric. The mind boggles.

Contrary to popular belief, chemical castration is not a form of sterilization, nor does it involve physical mutilation.

Even if chemical castration was carried out, it's entirely possible that some rapists would use objects instead of their dicks.
Those who say that chemical castration is barbaric did not consider that rape is probably the most barbaric act of all.

Perhaps just remove the chemical part, that should be a pretty good deterrent.

God knows I'm tempted to agree with you.

Actually if we want to go down the slippery slope of returning barbarism with barbarism, we can also say since "rape is worse than death", rapist should in fact be given the death penalty.

Most rape cases started out with people who never committed rape or may prev commit minor sexual offences.

So that's why I did think about is castration a "good enough punishment" for rapists compared with the current long jail sentence and rotan.

Punishments meted out is meant to deter and make them learn from their mistakes. Isn't it so?

Why not adopt capital punishment for every crime, minor or otherwise? After all, apathetic Sinkies like to resort to the argument that since they are law abiding, they've nothing to fear.

The greatest punishment for these sexual fiends is to chop off both their hands and locked them up in an isolated cell and throw away the keys! Without their hands, they can't even jerk it off! The total sexual deprivation will drive them mad!
