[h=1]CHAOS AT CITY HALL MRT: MOURNERS REFUSE TO LEAVE EVEN THOUGH THE PADANG IS FULL[/h]
Post date:
27 Mar 2015 - 11:04pm

12:45am NOTE: We are aware of a report from the Ministry of Communications accusing TRS of 'falsely reporting' that there was chaos at the MRT station.
Our article was posted over an hour and a half ago and the ministry's "clarification" that it is actually orderly, was shared by CNA only 30 minutes ago without any time stamp on the Ministry's clarification.
Readers can see for themselves from the video that it was chaotic at one point in time and our original article had also posted updates about the situation improving:
UPDATE 12:15am:
The crowds have now cleared and it is orderly again.
---
UPDATE:
Queues to pay respect to Lee Kuan Yew at Parliament have been suspended.
Mourners are advised to go to other community sites around Singapore to pay their respects instead.
There is also a LIVE feed of what is happening inside Parliament house for the public to see.

The situation at City Hall MRT is a giant mess of people after mourners arriving on Friday evening to pay their final respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew were told to go home as the Padang is full and cannot take any more people in the queue.
Many people who were not able to take days off work to pay tribute to Mr Lee who is lying in state in Parliament until Saturday 8pm decided to go down and do so this evening.
As of 10:30pm, the queues are reportedly over 10 hours long.
Understandably, those who wanted to pay their last respects but were told to go home are unimpressed and the people refused to leave at City Hall MRT.
Police were deployed and in a video of the incident an officer can be heard saying through a loudspeaker "Everybody disperse, the Padang is full."
However, it continues to be a scene of chaos as people are unable to move much due to the crowds and many people refused to go home without paying their respects to Lee Kuan Yew.
Authorities have put out advisories saying tha the public are "strongly advised" not to join the queue.
They pointed out that there are 18 other community sites where people can pay their respects and the funeral procession on Sunday will cover a stretch of 15.4km where the public can line up to pay their respects as Mr Lee Kuan Yew's coffin is transported via gun carriage.
