Absolutely not !

The key to longevity is consuming lots of vegetables and drinking lots of soursop juice :)

Centenarians are centenarians because they are blessed with good genes. I know of centenarians who guzzle beer by the pint, smoke a pack a day, gorge on fried chicken and fatty steak and whose idea of exercise is lifting the morning papers off the table.

Good dietary and lifestyle advice is for the rest of us with lousy genes and family history of chronic diseases, cancer and sudden death. Especially so in Singapore, where not many people have the money and connections to afford access to the best medical care, unlike the nonagenarian old fart.

The obsession with prolonging life and abstaining from certain foods in order to do so is because of only one thing: the fear of death.

Death is inevitable, inescapable, how many more years can you prolong your life eating brown rice, organic food, having a vegan diet?

You don't even know if you'll die next week. Why project so far into the future?

Agree. But a lifestyle of moderation lowers your odds of suffering ill health and a painful death. Being able to enjoy life in good health is more important than living a long life, IMO.
