Caught on camera: Man steals bra

SINGAPORE - Women living in the Tanjong Pagar area should be careful as a reader has sent in footage of what looked like a man stealing bra from a clothes rack.

Xavier the contributor told citizen journalism website STOMP that the CCTV footage was shot on June 19.

He said, "This incident took place in Singapore at Tanjong Pagar Plaza on 19th of June 2011.

"If you are staying in this estate, do keep a lookout for this handsome young chap who has good taste in women's underwear.

In the footage, a young man togged in a pink and grey striped shirt with khaki trousers was seen removing the yellow clothes peg and taking the turquoise bra.

The bra was among several pieces of clothing hung on bamboo poles and left to dry in what appeared to be a public area.

Xavier also said that he was concerned about what the alleged thief might do with the bra.

He told STOMP, "Is he taking it for himself (Wear it? Smell it)?

"Or is he taking it for his mom/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend?

"Or is he selling it at some second hand market? Or worse, selling it on e-bay!!!"

It is not known if any police report has been made.

Putting thing/dry clothes in common area is consider common property. So anyone can take. Why never blame the person who put it in common area.

In the 1960s I used to frequent the technicians quarters at Jalan Majapahit (now gone) in Jurong, opposite the NTU. These quarters used to house the Telecoms and Radio Singapore broadcasting staff. Over here I became acquainted with several Javanese riggers and wiremen employed by these organization. Their belief in black magic, bomoh and the supernatural was very strong. According to them if you like someone and you can get her bra, underwear, hair or fingernails, you can use it to charm her or him. All you have to do is bring the item to a bomoh who will chant some unholy verses over it; the owner will then become your sex slave. So I suspect the bra thief has this intention.
Don't ask me how effective is this technique, because I never tried it.
