<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A MALAYSIAN man became the first person to be convicted of stealing $1,300 worth of chips from three people at Resorts World Sentosa since its opening 11/2 months ago. Khor Khuan Boon, 26, was fined $3,000 on Friday on each of two charges of theft of a piece of $500 cash chip from Mr Ong Swee Chew, 47, and three pieces of $100 cash chips totalling $300 from Mr Chen Kin Cheong, 42, at the casino on Thursday. The two men had reported the loss of their chips to the staff of the casino who then viewed CCTV footages which captured Khor stealing. A third charge involving $500 was considered during his sentencing. Khor told District Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan that he had no money to pay for the fines as he had lost a lot of money at the casino. He will go to prison for six weeks in lieu of the $6,000 fine. He could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined on each charge.
