Marina Bay, Bayfront circle line stations to open in January

SINGAPORE - The Circle Line extension, comprising Bayfront and Marina Bay stations, will open on Jan 14.
Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew announced this at the ground breaking ceremony for Downtown Line 3 today morning.
The third and final stretch of the Downtown Line, comprising 16 stations, will open in 2017.
It will connect residents in the east to the Central Business District.
Mr Lui said this has been a significant year for the rail network, with the opening of the Circle line and completion of upgrading work at Jurong East station.
Mr Lui announced that the new platform at Jurong East station will open in the evenings between 5pm and 8pm from Dec 27.
This would mean being able to add more train trips and commuters can also have greater ease of movement at the station during those hours.
The new platform has since May this year been open during morning peak hours as part of the Jurong East Modification Project. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
