A CBC News investigation had discovered that more than 50 videos were streamed live and recorded from libraries in the city of Windsor, in Ontario, in the past three months.

The woman, Alexandria Morra, 21, from Windsor, later turned herself in to Windsor Police Service headquarters.

She was charged with one count of performing an indecent act, CBC News reported.

Morra, who was using the name lislecrett, masturbated and used sex toys in the library branches, sometimes with unsuspecting library users, including children, nearby.

The first video appeared to be streamed in November last year and the most recent one was streamed in January this year.

Library CEO Kitty Pope told CBC that they were pretty shocked by the incident.

She said: "We learned about a young person in the library in January who was taking inappropriate pictures of herself. When staff discovered this, they tried to find out who she was. She wouldn't identify herself so they asked her to leave."

Morra was apparently a contract model for website Myfreecams, which has sacked her as it has a policy that models do not perform any sexual acts in public places, The National Post reported.
