April Fools: Canadian Recreational Legalization
By Anne Holland
According to a Canadian newspaper’s April Fools Day headline this morning, government officials in the province of Manitoba are considering legalizing recreational sales as soon as Easter weekend, and this action could serve as a test case for legalization across the rest of Canada in future.
Although no official government statement has been issued yet regarding the story, it supposedly was based on emails between unnamed government officials which were obtained under Canada’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
The faux emails indicated officials were inspired by hearing that Colorado’s recreational sales tax revenues are already $3.5 million for 2014. One email read in part, “Finally, we’ll be able to get some money from those hippy potheads.”
In the meantime, in the real world there has been good news for Canadian MMJ evangelists. Last week a federal judge granted a temporary reprieve to the 37,000 Canadian MMJ caregivers and patients who are licensed to grow limited quantities of cannabis for medicinal purposes. Heretofore, these citizens would have been subject to police arrest if they continued growing past an April 30th deadline.
Health Canada plans to appeal this ruling, but the court battle could be lengthy. And, with increasing movement toward legalization, the battleground itself may have changed dramatically by the time the fight is over.

It's just a forecast of things to come.

Eventually, it will come. For now, and the past couple of years, there's just been high anticipation and become a political Ping-Pong game. I just read too the Coloradoan license plate cars are getting targeted and pulled over in other states and checked for pot possession. A lot of money is being wasted on enforcing a normal activity. Anyways, I've lived with it being illegal and have gotten used to that, it doesn't change anything for me. However, a lot of ordinary chaps are finding themselves on the wrong side of the law because of its illegal status.

Cheers!

As I was saying in the above post..........................

Marijuana racket busted

The Jakarta Post, Tangerang | Jakarta | Wed, April 02 2014, 7:06 AM

The Rajeg Police have arrested eight drug dealers and confiscated 2 kilograms of marijuana and 1 gram of crystal methamphetamine (locally known as shabu-shabu) from the suspects, the police said Tuesday.
Rajeg Police chief Adj. Comr. Teguh Kuslantoro on Tuesday said the suspects — M. Samsuri, Abdul Azis, Sadam Husen, Tresna Jaya Gumilang, Endang Rohana, Suhendar and Nurul Hidayat — were still in detention undergoing questioning.
“The eight suspects were members of a network that supplied marijuana to Kampung Periuk in Mekarsari village in Rajeg district,” he said.
Teguh said that the police had received a tip off that had led to the arrest of Samsuri.
“After our investigation, we became aware of the other seven suspects,” Teguh said.
The police said they also confiscated a Suzuki Baleno and ignition keys for various cars.
